Snaidero Chicago and our Senior Designer, Brandy Cohen had the privilege of redesigning the Private Dining Room kitchen at Little Goat Diner for Chef Stephanie Izard and her crew of talented chefs. The kitchen needed to be highly functional with plenty of working counter space, storage, the right heating and cooking elements, and most importantly lend itself aesthetically to the overall vibe of the space.
Designing for a chef and a restaurant versus a residential kitchen allowed Brandy to be creative, but also mindful of the volume of food that would be prepared in the space, and the number of cooks in the kitchen at any one time. Working with a mix of Gaggenau and Thermador appliances, Brandy was able to create the right mix of cooking and baking stations in using a stand-alone cooktop, a dedicated range, as well as several other stand-alone ovens based on the needs of the Chef. The space is used to entertain private parties, but also doubles as a catering kitchen so there is high volume of cooking and preparation occurring throughout the day. An oversized island was designed and fabricated from Caesarstone to add a warm, inviting element, and to allow for proper food set-up, plating, and overall storage.
A blend of Snaidero high gloss and wood accented melamine cabinetry was used due to its ability to withstand a varying range of temperatures, its durability in a highly utilized space, and mainly because of its clean, versatile usability.
The end result: functional, timeless, beautiful Italian design in an overall welcoming entertaining space.
